THE PROCESS
These tiles are created by integrating two or more layers of pigmented cement in combination with a final
layer of cement "patina" inorder to render the movement and texture of ancient stonework. Because each piece is handmade they will vary in design, and colors may vary within a palette range.
This is not a glazed tile - it is similar to stone, and specifically "ancient" stone with layers of sediment and patina. The aesthetics of the fine sand, sediment build-up, and translucent coloring which give it depth and authenticity would be impossible to capture with a glaze. And like stone, without glazing (melted glass) to protect it, scrubbing will damage it. It needs to be sealed (see the installation instructions), and also like stone, a sealant may deepen the color.
INSTALLATION
Tiles must be sealed flat before installation, with a penetrable sealer e.g. Porous Plus, 511, or Aqua Mix-Sealers Choice. Test before using cement sealants. Tiles must be bag-grouted if grouting.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Simply spray tiles with water or wipe them with a soft damp cloth. As with any stone product, avoid chemicals and scrubbing inorder to preserve the surface integrity.
